- The recognition was given during Healthy Week, a week dedicated to experiencing the purpose and internalizing a culture that promotes healthy lifestyle habits and integral wellness among the company’s professionals.
Barcelona, October 22, 2024. Towa International, -an international pharmaceutical holding company specializing in the research, development, manufacture, marketing and distribution of generic and value-added medicines, which distributes directly in Europe and the United States through its commercial subsidiaries, Towa Pharmaceutical and Breckenridge Pharmaceutical, and in more than 30 countries through its Towa2B business unit, has been distinguished with the Healthy Company seal, awarded by AENOR, a leading entity in the generation of trust, for its Healthy Towa program.
The Healthy Towa program focuses on creating a diverse and holistic wellness environment for all people in the company, promoting physical, mental and emotional health within a framework of psychological safety. It also underlines the importance of Towa’s people being ambassadors of the company’s values, promoting this culture of wellness both inside and outside the organization. This certification validates the effort made to diagnose the needs of Towa’s people and their environment, the robustness of health and safety processes, and the creation of a culture based on psychological safety, diversity, inclusion, well-being and people development.
David Peix, CEO of Towa International, underlined the relevance of this recognition for the company: “Receiving the AENOR Healthy Company seal is an important milestone for Towa International, as it confirms the effectiveness of our Healthy Towa program. For us, investing in the well-being of our teams is not only a social responsibility, but a fundamental strategy to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the company.”
During her speech, Meritxell Ferraté, Chief People, Sustainability & Transformation Officer at Towa International, highlighted: “In order to be able to transform and generate a positive impact on society, it is essential to start with ourselves, creating an environment and internal culture that embodies our purpose and values. This certification is the first step and has been possible thanks to the transversal efforts of a multitude of teams, who continue to work to build an environment of health, diversity and well-being for Towa’s people.”
AENOR’s Healthy Company seal recognizes organizations that implement sustainable and effective health and wellness policies, positioning Towa as a company committed to people, which understands that wellness is key to ensuring long-term success and sustainability.
Jordi Martín, director of AENOR in Catalonia, present at the ceremony, emphasized the relevance of this certification: “People are one of the most important assets of companies and of society, which is why taking care of them is fundamental. AENOR’s ‘Healthy Company’ seal aims, precisely, to recognize companies that are aware of this fact and include policies in their companies to promote the wellbeing of their staff. The fact that international and prestigious companies carry out this type of actions has a powerful effect on the extension of good practices among their wide network of stakeholders and, therefore, that they end up being predominant among our economic fabric. In the specific case of TOWA, it is of great relevance that concern for the well-being of its employees is one of its priorities, as it defines the humanization of the company’s values”.
Towa International’s Healthy Week
The seal was given during Healthy Week 2024, the centerpiece of the Healthy Towa program, a week dedicated to experiencing firsthand our purpose, promoting health and wellness at Towa. This year, the focus was on cardiovascular health, approached from a holistic perspective through the Body, Mind, Heart and Soul pillars, which encompass physical, emotional, social and psychological well-being in addition to environmental and community care.
With the participation of more than 350 employees, Healthy Week offered personalized workshops and practical activities every 30 minutes, reinforcing the importance of self-knowledge, self-care and the creation of healthy habits. Two of the main highlights of this week were the participation of two key guests: Dr. José Abellán, cardiovascular physician, who gave a lecture on the pillars for promoting cardiovascular health and debunking false myths, and Eva Díaz, social reference and author of the book “Buscando a Eva” (Looking for Eva), who spoke about the importance of authenticity in talent and leadership.
In addition to promoting well-being, this initiative also contributed to strengthening the sense of community and belonging among Towa employees.
