Towa International reduces its own emissions by 60% in progress toward NetZero

On the occasion of the International Day Against Climate Change

Barcelona, October 24, 2025. The International Day Against Climate Change highlights the global impacts of climate change and the urgency of taking action. Towa International firmly believes that sustainability must guide every step it takes, both as a company and as a group of individuals. Sustainability is a conviction embedded in the company’s daily operations and integrated into its strategic vision, influencing decision-making at every level.

Recognizing that much work remains, today offers an opportunity to reflect on last year’s progress and how it aligns with its Ikigai: contributing people’s health, which inherently involves caring for and respecting the world we inhabit.

In its latest reporting period, Towa International achieved a 60% reduction in its own emissions (Scope 1 and 2) compared to its 2019 baseline, an 18% reduction in its global carbon footprint (Scope 1, 2, and 3) since 2019. Moreover, in 2024 the company succeeded in reducing resource consumption and increasing the use of renewable sources: it saved over 10.000 m³ of water, cut electricity use by 500.000 kWh (now fully sourced from renewable energy with Guarantees of Origin), reduced natural gas consumption by 1.000.000 kWh, and implemented circular economy projects with key suppliers, recirculating more than 40 tons of waste.

Towa International is committed to responsible waste management and is affiliated with SIGRE for pharmaceutical packaging disposal and with ECOEMBES for parapharmacy products.

The company also promotes sustainable mobility: since 2024, its subsidiary in Portugal operates with a 100% electric vehicle fleet. Shuttle buses are provided for employees to access offices and production sites, further reducing environmental impact.

Every action Towa International takes represents a step toward a healthier and more sustainable future, for the people and the planet.
